This little rooster is 1/8 inch tall and was carved with a regular pocketknife...with no magnification! Just a good case of nearsightedness!!
The little roosters below are mounted inside knotholes. (The ruler shows both inches and centimeters.)
You ought to hear the din when all these little guys get crowing at once!!
Rooster, hen, and chick -- birch
Round base -- Maple

Note written Feb. 5, 2011:
While my wife and I were at the Pennsylvania Farm Show back in January, we said we expected to have some of my carvings for sale on the internet by February. We still have to take care of a bunch of the details regarding the set up, and given the fact that both of us know less than our young grandchildren about this whole computer and internet stuff, it may be a little longer until we get the photos of our carvings that are for sale on our website.
In the meantime, if you are interested in something, please feel free to give me a call. Maybe I can verbally explain enough, even though I don't yet have the photos up on the computer. The best time to catch me is in the evening, sometime after 7:00 P.M.
